Age 13

Early ventures

Eric Berkowitz was born and raised in New Jersey. He started building businesses early, selling roses on the side of the road and assembling groups of local teenagers to handle snow removal in his neighborhood.

 

1991

Clean Image Limited

Eric Berkowitz and longtime friend and business partner John Devecka, while still in college, launched Clean Image Limited, a commercial cleaning company with a team of over 30 employees that specialized in industrial and building maintenance services.

1994

Fastcorp

The duo later became partners, along with Munroe Chirnomas and Stephen Cohen, in the robotic vending machine company Fastcorp. Fastcorp introduced what would become the world’s only robotic frozen ice cream vending machine, and was later acquired by VT, Inc.

1995

Frozen Vending Specialty Company

In 1995, Eric Berkowitz founded Frozen Vending Specialty Company. Based in Miami, Flordia FVSC utilized Fastcorp’s ice cream vending machines and established over 250 locations in South Florida.

1996

Drumscape

During this time the duo championed Drumscape, a coin-operated drumming-karaoke video game that graced over 350 arcades around the world. Drumscape allowed users to play along with their favorite artists in categories including rock, pop, hip hop, R&B, and dance music.

2005

Opened for Bon Jovi with band Full Out Freak

In 2005, Bon Jovi invited Eric and his band Full Out Freak to open for him at the Meadowlands Arena in New Jersey. Berkowitz held down the rhythm section with his bass guitar playing to over 24,000 screaming fans. The bands music has been licensed in many TV shows, commercials, and even a video game.

2006

Guitar Hero

Drumscape patents covered most musical instruments including guitar and its patents were eventually purchased by Activision in 2006 and went on to form the basis for Guitar Hero.

Guitar Hero has sold more than 25 million units worldwide since its 2005 launch and has grossed over 2 billion dollars in sales.

2006

Founded Humble

In 2006, Berkowitz founded Humble, a bicoastal integrated production studio for commercials, branded content, and feature films. Humble established a business model that allowed for creative development, production, post production, and animation all under one roof. Humble continues to grow and has garnered many industry awards including Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, Emmy Awards, D&AD, and more.

2013

Singtrix unveiled at Engadget Expand

Berkowitz also serves as President/Founding Partner for Singtrix, the only smart karaoke machine featuring over 375 preset vocal effects that lets everyday people instantly feel and sound like rock stars. Created by Devecka and Charles and Kai Huang, Singtrix was unveiled at the Engadget Expand show in New York in November of 2013 and has been featured on Shark Tank, The View, The Ellen Show, CNBC The Pitch, Fox News, Today Show, Forbes, Wired, Advertising Age, The Wall Street Journal, Men’s Health Magazine, Mashable, Tech Crunch, E! News, and in 2015, Singtrix was also awarded a CES Innovation Award at the annual consumer electronics show in Las Vegas.

2014

Launched Postal

In the Fall of 2014, Berkowitz officially launched Humble’s sister design, edit, animation, and post production studio Postal. In a few short years, the company has already seen significant growth in terms of talent and leadership and has worked with clients like Nike, Coca-Cola, and the TED Institute.

 

2018

Launched Humble Idea Studio

Always a step ahead of the advertising industry, in 2018, Berkowitz officially launched Humble Idea Studio.
